Allendale

Allendale

The community maintains a strong sense of pride in its historical roots.

Welcome to Allendale

Allendale started as a “streetcar suburb”. Today, it is a diverse and developing neighborhood. It snuggles up to Maxwell Park to the east. Just on the other side of 580 is Laurel with all the fun things on McArthur. See Allendale as a part of Oakland just below 580, which has grown significantly in value and offerings as the market emerged after the great recession of 2008.

Residents of Allendale include a mix of families, young professionals, and long-time residents who appreciate its residential feel and community-oriented atmosphere. The neighborhood features a variety of housing styles, from cozy bungalows to larger Craftsman homes and mid-century constructions.

Real estate prices typically range from $600,000 to $1.2 million, making it more accessible than many other Oakland niches. What makes Allendale unique is its central location and neighborly vibe. It’s close to local schools, parks like Allendale Park, and bustling commercial areas. The community actively engages in local events and maintains a strong sense of pride in its historical roots.

Personal favorite in Allendale is Donut Savant. First, because well, donuts. They make “sufganiot,” which are the jelly donuts that we eat at Chanukah. They make them all year round, and they are amazing. Their “cron’t”, in all its flavor,s is light and fluffy. Even if you don’t live in Allendale, you should go.
