Alameda

The city of Alameda is an island off the coast of Oakland. In fact Alameda borders just two cities: Oakland and San Francisco, and those borders are water borders. The “main island” has eclectic housing from ornate Victorians to ultra modern new construction and everything in between. There are condos, townhomes, small and large single family homes, and larger vintage homes that have been cut up over the decades into multi-units.

Alameda has a distinct sense of community that draws from its military history with the Air Naval Station at Alameda Point, its unique location between San Francisco and Oakland, its charming tree lined streets, and its geographic position as an island. Alameda has a thriving arts community, a tech sector, and thriving downtown with locally owned business, and eating establishments. The big box stores are at Southshore Shopping Center and in the West End of the Island at Alameda Landing.

Anywhere you go in Alameda you are a short walk from an elementary school and at least two parks.

Public transportation in Alameda is buses and the beloved ferry. There are ferry terminals in both the main Island and Harbor Bay.

The public schools in Alameda are highly rated and include several Charter Schools.
